Keith L. Somerville
Lead Pastor
Thank you so much for visiting The Village! As you get to know all about us, I wanted to take some time to tell you just a little about myself. Most people call me Pastor Keith. In 2016, I was ordained as an Elder in full connection through the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. That means that along with my call to ministry by God, I am formally educated, experienced, and connected to thousands of men and women worldwide who are accountable to one another for the care of God’s people.
I am a graduate of Morehouse College, the Interdenominational Theological Center (Gammon Seminary) with a Masters of Divinity in Pastoral Care and Counseling, and Emory University with a Doctor of Ministry Degree in Biblical Interpretation and Proclamation. I have also earned a Certificate in Clinical Pastoral Education and served as a Chaplain of Clinical Pastoral Education at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital and Texas Children’s Hospital (Houston Medical Center).
Before being called to the Village, I served full-time as the Senior Pastor of Riverside-Houston UMC, Calvary-Houston UMC, and One Life UMC.
In addition to preaching, teaching, and pastoral care, I have served on several Conference Boards, a member of the Institutional Review Board for the University Of Houston School of Research, as the President of the Black Methodist For Church Renewal (Houston Caucus), Co-Founder of One Voice Inc., a published author, and Board Chair Emeritus of the Wesley Foundation at Texas Southern University.
I look forward to meeting you, and I hope you prayerfully consider becoming a part of the Village!
